Hey GIT Girls!
Valentine’s Day is either the most anticipated or hated time of the year, depending upon if you’re happily married, engaged, dating, unhappily single, happily single, or have recently gone through a tough break-up.
Single This VDay?
Until the last 2 1/2 years or so, I too was single, or, in between relationships. And honestly, it was hard for me. If V-Day fell on a work day, I’d want to call in and not show up. Honestly, I wouldn’t want to leave my apartment and stay in seclusion.
Yes! My feelings were extreme, all because I didn’t want to see the many happy couples that would be out celebrating hand in hand along with the overwhelming amount of flowers, cards, gifts, and candy on display – to the point that it was nauseating.
Instead, I’d want to lock myself in my bedroom, cry, eat Biscoff European cookies (they’re marvelous too by the way), and watch a few of my favorite movies. Guaranteed tear-jerkers like Beaches, or for real fun –Fatal Attraction or A Thin Line Between Love and Hate.
Laughing at those last two movies definitely would help to get my mind off of how alone I felt and thoroughly entertain me. I slapped a high-five with the invisible person beside me. Because I was there. Alone.
Time To Change…
I know now that this wasn’t at all healthy. So I say to you that even though you may feel alone, you are not alone. And thankfully Valentine’s Day is only one day. And you can get through it!
To help you embrace your singleness on this sometimes difficult day, I’ve come up with 5 tips to help you get through this Valentine’s Day.
So, enjoy that day because you have so much to be happy about!
